DELAYS, DELAYS, DELAYS

Well we’re here in April and the album isn’t finished. Sorry. There are all sorts of reasons but I shan’t bore you with them. Suffice to say that they centre around a major house development (kitchen – no, really, a MAJOR development) and my on-going difficulties.

I have been busy writing though. I can’t stop that because it’s part of who I am. There have been songs about time, faithfulness, change, cruelty (of course) and many other things in-between.

One of my recent songs happened at a songwriting weekend run by the excellent Findlay Napier. Fin challenged me to write more simply than I normally do, and an interesting song was the result. I’m not sure yet if I like it, but other people seem to. Another song I wrote on the weekend was about a whirlpool – dark and deadly. I’m afraid at the moment it has the title of ‘Foul Hole’, which is open to all sorts of different interpretation. I feel a re-write coming on.

The initial song from the weekend has the title of ‘Crow Hill’ and was recorded with Guy Burgess and Alyson MacConnachie and will hopefully appear on an album with others from the writers who were present.
